MEETING OF THE ELK RIVER PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION HELD AT CITY HALL WEDNESDAY, JULY 13, 2005 Members Present: Commissioners Nystrom, Niziolek, Anderson and Paige Absent Excused: Commissioners Kuester, Polston-Hork, Peterson Council Liaison: Council Member Larry Farber Staff Present: Bill Maertz, Parks and Recreation Director; Chris Leeseburg, Planner/Park Planner; Tonya Love, Recording Secretary 1. Call Meeting To Order Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Parks and Recreation Commission was called to order at 6:34 p.m. by Vice Chair Paige. 2. Consider July 13, 2005 Parks & Recreation Commission Agenda MOVED BY COMMISSIONER ANDERSON AND SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER NYSTROM TO APPROVE THE JULY 13, 2005 PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION AGENDA. MOTION CARRIED 4-0 3. Consider Minutes of June 8, 2005 Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting MOVED BY COMMISSIONER NYSTROM AND SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER NIZIOLEK TO APPROVE THE JUNE 8, 2005 PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES. MOTION CARRIED 4-0 4. Parks & Recreation Commissioner to Attend July 18, 2005 City Council Meeting and July 26, 2005 Planning Commission Meetings 4.1. July 18, 2005 City Council Meeting Commissioner Anderson will attend the July 18, 2005 City Council Meeting. 4.2. July 26, 2005 Planning Commission Meeting Commissioner Peterson will attend the July 26, 2005 Planning Commission Meeting. 4.5. Open Mike Tyler Stevens, Boy Scout from Troop 90 presented his Eagle project for approval. He would construct 10-15 bat houses and scatter them around the marshy and grassy areas in Woodland Trails Park to help decrease the population of flying insects for trail users. Tyler will build 3-chamber houses that fit up to 100 bats; the house will be attached to a ten-foot high metal post.
