<br />Request for Action <br /> <br />To Item Number <br />City Council 4.5 <br /> <br />Meeting Date Prepared By <br />February 3, 2025 Lauren Wipper, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />Hire Fulltime Liquor Store Clerk Cal Portner <br />Tina Allard <br />Action Requested <br />Approve, by motion, the hiring of Stephen Calvert to the position of fulltime liquor store clerk effective <br />February 4, 2025. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />City Council approved the addition of a full-time liquor clerk position at its November 18, 2024, City Council <br />meeting. We went to market to fill the position and received 71 applications, many of which were from <br />current and former part-time Elk River liquor store clerks. Following two rounds of interviews, we <br />recommend current employee Stephen Calvert for this position. <br /> <br />Mr. Calvert has been working for us as a part-time clerk since May 2018. He currently teaches Physical <br />Science, Astronomy, Earth Science, Cell Biology, and Environmental Biology at Centennial High School. Mr. <br />Calvert will work a regular schedule of 32 hours a week while he is teaching and will work 40 hours during <br />the non-school year. <br /> <br />Mr. Calvert will start at step A of pay grade 6N.
