<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />February 2, 1959 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on Feb 2, 1959. <br />Present Mayor Johnson, Trustees Meyer, Kemper and Briggs. Trustee Bergerson was absent. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />Kendall Houlton presented a petition asking for the vacation of part of village street, now occupied <br />by the downtown park. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Kemper and seconded by Meyer to accept the offer to vacate part of the <br />street as per agreement. Roll call vote was: <br />Kempter – yes, Meyer – yes, Briggs – yes, Johnson – yes, carried <br /> <br />Trustee Meyer offered house numbering and street naming ordinance No. __ and moved it’s <br />adoption. Roll call vote: <br />Kempter – yes, Meyer – yes, Briggs – yes, Johnson – yes. Motion carried. Seconded by Kemper. <br /> <br />The clerk was instructed to place a notice in the Star News of a special council meeting at the Village <br />Hall on Feb 11, 1959 at 7:30 P.M. for the purpose of considering the zoning ordinance. Those <br />interested were asked to be present. The disposal plant to be taken up, time permitting. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Kemper to authorize village attorney John <br />MacGibbon to negotiate for the proposed site for the sewage disposal plant with the Rural <br />cooperative Power Assn. and the land owners at a proportionate share of the cost of the land. <br />Carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Kemper to appoint Herbert Greupner acting Fire <br />Chief in the absence of Harry Dreissig who is ill, until further action by the Council. Carried. <br /> <br />Application for on sale beer license by Joseph Stenleign was presented. A motion was made by <br />Meyer and seconded by Kemper to grant on sale beer license for 3.2 beer to Mr. Stenglein. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />A petition was presented signed by numerous citizens asking for control of air plane traffic on Lake <br />Orono. The Council agreed to investigate later and find out what authority they have. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Briggs and second by Meyer $10,000.00 was transferred from the Liquor fund to <br />the General fund. <br /> <br />Motion by Briggs and seconded by Meyer to allow A.E. Balow, Liquor Store Manager a raise of <br />$15.00 a month. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved: <br /> <br />
