<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />APRIL 27, 1912 <br /> <br />Annual meeting of the Village Council was held on Saturday evening April 27, at the office of Geo. <br />E. Page, President. <br /> <br />Geo. E. Page, President, Geo. Worden and E.P. Babcock Trustees and W.F. Chadbourne, Clerk. <br />Visitors Frank T. White William Iliff, Silas Crocket, and William Baldowsky. <br /> <br />The minutes of the last meeting read and approved. <br /> <br />Report of special committees, P.F. Plummer being absent no report as to that committee. <br /> <br />E.P. Babcock committee to interview businesses were as to keeping a Marshal reported that he had <br />{illegible}but a few in regard to the matter but they were unanimous in favor of keeping Marshal <br />report accepted committee discharged. <br /> <br />W.F. Chadbourne committee to ascertain if the Town of Elk River were liable to part of expense for <br />painting Mississippi bridge reported that he could find nothing in records in regard to the matter, <br />but from information secured would judge that the Town not be compelled to do so. Report <br />accepted and committee discharged. <br /> <br />W.F. Chadbourne committee to ascertain as to grade near Creamery on Princeton St being too low <br />so as to {illegible} to surface springs of water which are now covered {illegible} reported that <br />according to grade stakes now set there would be no danger of interfering with said springs. Report <br />accepted committee discharged. <br /> <br />William Iliff and S.M. Crockett asked that the sidewalk on east side of Princeton St as commenced <br />last fall be completed. <br /> <br />On motion of Babcock seconded by Worden it was decided to advertise for bids to build above <br />mentioned sidewalk and that W.F. Chadbourne prepare specifications for {illegible} and advertise <br />for bids. <br /> <br />The clerk was instructed to notify F.W. Nickerson in writing that the Council desired him to finish is <br />job of grading for sidewalk also to fix grade on west side of Princeton St so that plank walk can be <br />replaced as ordered by Council last fall. <br /> <br />William Baldowsky representing the Elk River Cornet Band asked that the Council furnish a suitable <br />bank stand in the park so that they could give open air concerts during summer. <br /> <br />On motion Council asked Baldowsky to present plan of what the band desired at our next regular <br />meeting when they would act upon it in favorable manner. <br /> <br />Application was made in writing by the I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 181 for a permit to erect a two-story <br />cement block building on Lot 3 Block 2 of Village {illegible} being in the fire limits. <br /> <br /> <br />
