<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />JUNE 3, 1911 <br /> <br />A regular meeting of the Common Council was held on June 3, 1911 in the office of Frank White. <br /> <br />Present: Geo. E. Page, President, B.F. Plummer, Geo. Worden, E.P. Babcock Trustees, W.F. <br />Chadbourne, clerk. <br /> <br />The minutes of the last meeting read and approved the following bills were presented and on motion <br />duly made seconded and carried were allowed and clerk authorized to draw orders for these respective <br />amounts. <br />Harold Keays – for flowers in park - $40.00 <br />R.E. Dare – for disinfectant - $7.50 <br />The Patterson Street Lighting Co. - ?? - $4.50 <br />John Hamlet – lb gasoline – <br /> <br />The application of J.C. Hulbert for permit to move wooden building into fire limits provided he would <br />make ? fireproof by cement coating building was taken up by Council C.S. Wheaton appearing for said <br />J.C. Hulbert after some discussion in regard to the merits of the case and a call for motion by Pres. The <br />subject was dropped. <br /> <br />Geo. Worden, trustee was authorized to look after refencing the Upper Town Bridge and fixing <br />sidewalk. <br /> <br />Ordinance No.59 extending fire limits was presented the following is a true copy. <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 59 <br /> <br />An ordinance to amend ordinance No. 53 and prescribing further limits within which wooden <br />buildings, or other buildings of other materials shall be d?????d fireproof, shall not be erected, placed or <br />repaired, and to direct all buildings within such prescribed limits shall be made and constructed of <br />fireproof materials and to prohibit the repairing and rebuilding of wooden buildings within such limits <br />where damaged to the extend of fifty per cent. The Village of Elk River do ordain as follows: that <br />section one (1) of said Ordinance No. 59 be amended so as to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 1. That all of Block Two (2) except lots eight (8) and nine (9) all of block five (5) except lots one <br />(1), Two (2), and Three (3). Lots one(1) of block three (3) Lot one (1) and two (2) of block four(4) and <br />all that territory south of the Northern Pacific Railway tracks, extending to the limits of Depot Street, <br />and in a westerly direction one hundred and thirty-two (132) feet from Princeton St in the said Village <br />of Elk River in the County of Sherburne and State of Minnesota, according to the duly recorded plat <br />thereof, and all that portion of said Village of Elk River that lies between said block five (5) and four <br />(4) of said Village be and the sa??? hereby are prescribed as the limits within which wooden buildings or <br />buildings of other materials that shall be d?????d fireproof shall not be erected or placed. Sec. 2 This <br />ordinance shall take effect and be enforced from and after the publication dated at Elk River <br />Minnesota, June 3, 1911. On motion of E.P. Babcock seconded by Geo. Worden, Ordinance No. 59 <br />was adopted. <br /> <br />Ordinance declared adopted and ordered printed. <br /> <br />No other business to come before the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />W.F.
