<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />JANUARY 31, 1908 <br /> <br /> <br />Minutes of the proceeding of the Village Council of the Village of Elk River in the County of <br />Sherburne and State of Minnesota including all accounts audited by said Council. <br /> <br />Village Council met at the store of R.E. Dare on Friday, January 31, 1908 at 8:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Present: <br />R.E. Dare, President, W.P. Rhoda, Justus deBooy and S. M. Crockett, Trustees. <br /> <br />Meeting called to order President. <br /> <br />Recorder absent on account of sickness, minutes dispensed with. <br /> <br />This meeting being called for the purpose of acting on the application of M.C. Blanchette for a <br />license to sell liquor at place named in application the council proceeded to disp? the matter. M.C. <br />Blanchette having complied with all the requirements of the law. Notice of hearing published in Star <br />News and having furnished a good and sufficient Bond as required by law, the following resolution <br />was offered. <br /> <br />Resolved that the common Council grants the application of said M.C. Blanchette to sell liquor at <br />his place of business, so named in said application he having complied with all the requirements of <br />the law and furnished bond and paid the sum of $1,500.00 to the Treasurer of Village. <br /> <br />Roll call: yeah – J. deBooy, W.P. Rhoda, S.M. Crockett trustees and R.E. Dare President. Nays, <br />none. <br /> <br />Resolution ???ed. <br /> <br />The Bond of H.J. Heebner ?scas. was presented and accepted. <br /> <br />The Bond of W.F. Ghadbourne Recorder was presented and accepted. <br /> <br />S.M. Crockett was instructed to look after the condition of Mrs. Geo. Foley she being in somewhat <br />destitute circumstances. <br /> <br />The following bills were presented and ordered paid: <br />Walter S. Booth - ? blan?? - $2.95 <br />A.S. Nelson – dray - $.50 <br />S.S. Trask – Marshall ?? - $75.00 <br />L. Slaback – work - $8.00 <br /> <br />No further business offering adjourned. <br />W.F. Ghadboune, recorder <br /> <br />
