<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />SEPTEMBER 22, 1928 <br /> <br />A special meeting of the Village Council was held at the Library Room on Saturday, Sept 22, 1928. <br /> <br />Present – Thos. E. Beck, Pres., Geo Cornelius, L.L. Bishop, E.E. Scott, Trustees, W.F. Chadbourne, <br />Clerk <br /> <br />Visitors <br />Mr. Beck representing the Isle Building Co. <br />Mr. E.L. Bupstrom representing Bock Building Co at Milaca <br />Mr. Cavanagh Bros. contractors Robbinsdale Minn <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by the Pres at 8:30 P.M. This meeting was called for the purpose of receiving <br />bids for the construction of Village Hall according to the plans and specifications prepared by W.F. <br />Chadbourne Village Clerk. The following bids were presented. Accompanied by certified Checks. <br /> <br />Cavanagh Bros 8269.00 <br />Isle Building Co. 9875.00 <br />Bock Building Co 8800.00 <br />These bids did not include heating, plumbing, or jail cells or vault door. <br /> <br />After considering the bids and informing the contractors that the Bonds to be issued for building a <br />Village Hall were only 7500.00 it would be impossible to contract at any of the above figures. <br />Therefore a motion was made and seconded that all the bids be rejected. Motion declared carried. <br />The contractors were also notified that a change would be made in the plans and be re-submitted to <br />them at an early date. <br /> <br />No further business, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />W.F.
