<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 1, 1923 <br /> <br />A Special Meeting of the Village Council was held at the Library Room on Monday Oct 1, 1923. <br /> <br />Present – C.E. Brown, Pres, Geo Cornelius, B.E. Fournier, Trustees and W.F. Chadbourne, Clerk. <br /> <br />Meeting was called to order by the Pres at 8 o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Minutes of last meeting read and approved. <br /> <br />The bond of Mr. Thomas Vill Treas was presented and on motion accepted and placed on file. <br /> <br />The following resolution was presented and adopted by unanimous consent. <br /> <br />Resolution: <br /> <br />That the sum of one thousand dollars be borrowed from the Poor Fund and placed to the credit of <br />the General Fund for the purpose of paying the Frontage Tax for water main laid around Parks of <br />the Village. <br /> <br />After some discussion in regard to the amount of tax to be raised to finance the Village the coming <br />year the following resolution was offered and adopted by a unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Resolved: <br /> <br />That the following sums be raised by taxation of the real and personal property of the Village of Elk <br />River to meet the necessary expenses for the year 1924. <br /> <br />For Revenue Fund 8000.00 for Special or sinking fund <br />For Music Fund 500.00 to pay interest on bonds 4000.00 <br />For Poor Fund 400.00 Library Fund 400.00 <br />Total $13,300.00 <br /> <br />The following resolution was adopted by a unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Resolved: <br />That the sum of $50.00 dollars be donated the Fire Department to aid in equipping their new hose <br />cart, the clerk was instructed to draw an order on the General Fund for same. <br /> <br />The following bills were presented and on motion allowed. <br /> <br />H.R.
