5.4
Library Services Coordinator Report -Board Meeting-7/2712021
Summer Reading Program is full swing. At the time of this report, we have had 725 children,
babies/toddlers, and teens register for the program. We are giving away many free books, pencils,
bookmarks, gift cards, and other prizes, thanks to the generous support of our Elk River Friends of the
Library. The program ends August 7, so I will have final participation and registration numbers for you at
the October meeting.
We have also returned to in -person story time on Mondays, with full or nearly full registrations every
Monday. We have been taking 15 children each session, and it is great to see that enthusiasm and
activity at the library again. We have also offered a "while supplies last" "take home" storytime option
each week this summer following the SRP theme of "Reading Colors Your World". We have been
running out of our 20 kits by the end of the day on Mondays or first thing on Tuesday, so these kits have
been well received as well.
The Story Strolls with Sherburne County Parks and Rec Staff, and Elk River Parks and Rec (we were able
to add Woodland Trails to the parks list -thanks to Karen Wingard!) have been going quite well too! So
far, we have given out approximately 330 bookmarks here in Elk River. Our Becker and Big Lake
Libraries are also participating in this program. If we have all of those returned, we will consider the
program to have been a success beyond our expectations. These prizes are also sponsored by our
Friends of the Elk River Library.
RIVER REQdOIYAI.
t36 RARY J t
::-
r:-
