<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />SECTION 1300 - SANITARY SEWER; CONNECTIONS, USE AND GENERAL <br />REGULATIONS <br /> <br />1300.00 - DEFINITIONS <br /> <br />Unless the context clearly indicates otherwise, the words, <br />combination of words, terms and phrases used in this Section <br />1300.00 et seq. shall have the meanings set forth in the <br />following paragraphs. <br /> <br />ACT: The Federal Water Pollution Control Act also referred to <br />as the Clean Water Act, as amended, 33. U.S.C. 1251, et seq. <br /> <br />ASTM: American Society of Testing Materials. <br /> <br />BOD (denoting "Biochemical Oxygen Demand"): The quantity of <br />oxygen utilized in the biochemical oxidation of organic matter <br />expressed in milligrams per liter, as determined in accordance <br />with standard laboratory procedure as set forth in the latest <br />edition of "Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and <br />Wastewater." <br /> <br />BUILDING DRAIN: That part of the lower horizontal p1p1ng of <br />a drainage system which receives the discharge from soil, waste <br />and other drainage pipes inside the walls of the building and <br />conveys it to the building sewer, beginning five (5) feet (1.5 <br />meters) outside the inner face of the building wall. <br /> <br />BUILDING SEWER: The extension from the building drain to the <br />public sewer or other place of disposal, also called house <br />connection. <br /> <br />CITY: The area within the corporate boundaries presently <br />established or as amended by ordinance or other legal actions <br />at a future time. The term "City" when used herein, may also <br />be used to refer to the specific City which has adopted this <br />ordinance and to that City Council and its authorized <br />representative(s). <br /> <br />COD (denoting "Chemical Oxygen Demand"): The quantity of <br />oxygen utilized in the chemical oxidation of organic matter, <br />expressed in milligrams per liter, as determined in accordance <br />with standard laboratory procedures as set forth in the latest <br />edition of "Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and <br />Wastewater." <br /> <br />COMPATIBLE POLLUTANT: Biochemical oxygen demand, suspended <br />solids, pH, and fecal coliform bacteria, plus additional <br />
