The desired staffing plan has one CSA working full-time Monday through Friday and three part-time CSAs
working 15 to 28 hours each week. We are in the process of recruiting for the part-time positions and, once filled,
we will have coverage from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. seven days a week.

Laura Estby has been working part-time in the position of office assistant at the ice arena since 2008. We would
like Ms. Estby to become full-time effective January 5, 2021. Exceptional customer service is key to the success of
the Furniture and Things Community Event Center and with full time hours Ms. Estby will be the cornerstone of
our customer service staff at the new facility. In the Furniture and Things Community Event Center, we have built
an exceptional amenity for our community, it is vitally important we provide an equally exceptional user
experience to all patrons of the facility.

Financial Impact
Ms. Estby is paid at the top of the CSA pay grade and additional wages, PERA, and FICA totals about $32,300.
Insurance benefits would range from $3,600 to $21,180 depending on her benefit election.

Mission/Policy/Goal
This action helps meet the city’s Value Statement by fostering a culture of exceptional service and using
resourcefulness to leverage a strength that we have already attained.

Attachments
 None

The Elk River Vision
A welcoming community with revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional

service, and community engagement that encourages and inspires prosperity.
Updated: August 2020
