<br /> <br /> <br />City of ~ <br />Ell{ <br /> <br />River <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 89-1 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE SERVICES OF ESTELLE GUNKEL AS <br />MAYOR FOR THE CITY OF ELK RIVER <br /> <br />WHEREAS. Estelle Gunkel has served as Mayor of the City of Elk River for two <br />years from January. 1987 through December. 1988; and. <br /> <br />WHEREAS. prior to Estelle Gunkel's service as Mayor she served for four <br />years on the City Council; and. <br /> <br />WHEREAS. while serving as Mayor and City Councilmember for the City of Elk <br />River. Estelle Gunkel also served on the City Economic Development <br />Authority and the City Housing and Redevelopment Authority; <br />and. <br /> <br />WHEREAS. <br /> <br />prior to Estelle Gunkel's service on the City Council. she served <br />on the Elk River Planning Commission and was involved in a <br />neighborhood citizen group that provided input to the City regarding <br />the Elk River Mall commercial development; and. <br /> <br />. <br />~.,~','," 'r >..WHEREAS. <br /> <br /> <br />..' <br /> <br />Estelle Gunkel served as Mayor and Councilmember during the <br />formation and adoption of the City Growth Management Plan. the <br />hiring of a City Economic Development Coordinator. the development <br />of existing parks and purchase of new parks. the planning and <br />completion of a comprehensive Central Business District <br />beautification project along with the Main Street and Jackson Avenue <br />improvement projects; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS. Estelle's service as Mayor and Councilmember to the community <br />merits the gratitude of the residents of the City of Elk River; <br />and. <br /> <br />WHEREAS. it is highly appropriate that her outstanding services to the City <br />of Elk River should be recognized and appreciated. <br /> <br />NOW. THEREFORE.
