<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />November 4, 1963 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the village hall on Nov. 4, 1963. <br />Members present Johnson, Meyer, Larson, and Briggs. Norris was absent. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />Robert Broas, representing the Bell Telephone Co, was present. He explained an automatic <br />answering system for the police department which will be installed as soon as the dial system is in <br />operation. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Meyer to accept the Bell Co. proposition. Carried. <br />Mr. Broas complimented the village on its fine cooperation to date. <br /> <br />Motion by Meyer and seconded by Larson to vacate 10 feet on the east side of Morton Ave from <br />the Shadick corner south. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The council agreed to do some filling and leveling on the street past the Lindenfelser apartments. <br /> <br />Clifford Gustafson has purchased Shorty Christian’s beer tavern and made an application for on and <br />off beer license. His references will be contacted before license is issued. <br /> <br />Engineer Wm Mills was present and made a preliminary report on storm sewer construction. More <br />work needs to be done before applying for Federal Aid for the project. <br /> <br />Following building permits were approved: A.F. Jarmaluck, Tony Moos, Lloyd Barthel. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Meyer to apply for federal aid for the storm sewer <br />project. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Larson and second by Meyer to open polls at the December village election <br />at 9:00 A.M. and close at 7:00 P.M. Carried <br /> <br />The following bills were approved and ordered paid: <br />August Leider – labor 60.00 <br />Fire Department – fires 528.00 <br />Elk River Lmbr Co – supplies 1.80 <br />Elk River Hardware – mdse 9.12 <br />Kemper Drug – supplies 3.77 <br />Bob Hall Motors – car repairs 14.00 <br />Gopher Stamp and Die – signs 7.50 <br />A.N. Johnson Co – labor 397.12 <br />E.R. Concrete Co – mdse 35.08 <br />McCrossan Co – street work 634.50 <br />Webers Texaco – gas, oil 11.25 <br /> <br />
