<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />April 9, 1962 <br /> <br />A special meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on April 9, 1962. The <br />purpose of the meeting was to decide how to handle the refuse collection and how to handle the <br />village dump. <br /> <br />After some discussion a motion was made by Kemper and seconded by Briggs that the village hire a <br />man to have charge of the village dump two days a week also a man and tractor to level off the <br />dump property when necessary. <br /> <br />The following charges are to be made for dumping: <br /> <br />Anyone who wishes to haul his own garbage from his home shall pay $1.00 per year for an <br />identification card which will entitle him to dump any time he wishes without further charge. <br /> <br />Any business place in the village shall pay $5.00 per year for a similar identification card if it wishes <br />to haul its own garbage. <br /> <br />Any person outside the village who wishes to haul his own garbage shall pay $3.00 per year for an <br />identification card with the same privilege as in the village. <br /> <br />Any business place outside the village which decides to haul its own garbage shall pay $8.00 per year <br />for privilege of dumping in the village dump. <br /> <br />Garbage haulers who have customers in the village shall be required to pay a license fee of $1.00 per <br />year and also pay for dumping at the rate of $.50 for a pick up load and $1.00 for a truck load. <br /> <br />Collection of garbage from the R.C.P.A. shall be decided by negotiation. <br /> <br />Motion carried all voting in favor except Trustee Meyer who abstained. <br /> <br />The clerk was asked to advertise for man to take care of the dump and also a man and tractor to <br />level the property when necessary. <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />H.A.
