<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />May 18, 1942 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Bldg on May 18, 1942 <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> M.C. Tesch, Mayor; E.L. Shadick,, G.A. Bailey, Trustees; and J. Clinton Walker, <br />Clerk <br /> <br />Joe Belanger was present at the meeting and asked to be given enough food stamps to last his family <br />until the first of June. Mr. Opheim of the Welfare board was called to the meeting and the case of <br />Joe Belanger was discussed with him. The council decided to issue an order for food stamps for Joe <br />Belanger and the amount needed , to be set by Mr. Opheim. <br /> <br />Frank Nickerson asked for a permit in behalf of Nickerson Bros. to move a building from the <br />property purchased by the state to their own property just south of the right of their new garage <br />building. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey and seconded by E.L. Shadick allowing this permit. <br /> <br />Bert Carr applied for a permit to move his warehouse to the R.R. right of way on the North side of <br />the R.R. tracks and Ease of Princeton Street. A motion was made by Frank Nickerson and seconded <br />by Clinton Walker granting this permit. <br /> <br />Chester Lockwood asked for a reduction in his sewer assessment claiming that the state had taken <br />part of this frontage for highway. No action was taken until the matter could be investigated. <br /> <br />The clerk was instructed to run a notice in the paper stating that application for life guard would be <br />received. <br /> <br />Arrangements were made to rent a city dump from J.P. Ranney for $20.00 for the season. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Frank Nickerson and seconded by Art Bailey to turn $350.00 over to the <br />Board of Educators for the salary of the Town Bond leader for the summer season. <br /> <br />No further business.
