<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />February 3, 1958 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on February 3, <br />1958. Members present, Johnson, Meyer, Sandberg and Briggs. <br /> <br />The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />A.E. Balow, manager of the Liquor Store reported that he will secure bids on some painting at the <br />store. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Briggs to black list Mr. & Mrs. Melvin Rudlong at <br />the Village liquor store and beer taverns in the Village. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The Clerk was asked to write for a State plumbing and heating code. <br /> <br />Archie Larson representing the Village Park Board reported on the status of the new park. He <br />suggested certain things that should be done such as, restrooms, bath houses, softball court and <br />leveling of the grounds. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Sandberg and seconded by Meyer to buy posts for outlining streets and have <br />Fred Brenteson do the leveling at the park. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Deanne Rohlf and Bryan Cornelius met with the Council. They would like to have a youth center <br />established at the park. The Council agreed to give it consideration. <br /> <br />Harry Dreissig reported on the progress of buying a fire truck. Specification will be need to be <br />studied further. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Briggs to change the name Village Marshall to Chief <br />of Police. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Sandberg and second by Meyer Clem Stempflug was given another month beer <br />and cigarette license for the Tip Top Café. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Sandberg and seconded by Briggs to allow the following advance in salary: <br />Oliver Micheau $315.00 per month <br />Lester Derr $425.00 per month <br />A.E. Balow $425.00 per month <br /> <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br /> <br />At this meeting the Village Clerk and the Treasurer presented their reports for 1957. Upon motion <br />by Sandberg and second by Meyer the reports were approved. <br /> <br />Then Council decided to advertise for bids for a bath house at the new park according to <br />specifications. <br /> <br />
