<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />December 7, 1953 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Dec 7, 1953. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> E.A. Parent, Mayor; Harry Dow, Dan Bailey, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, <br />Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Parent. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />The clerk reported resignation from the Library Board of Mrs. Alice Shadick, Mrs. Earl Darrow and <br />Mrs. Walter Johnson. <br /> <br />The Council appropriated the following to fill vacancies on the Library Board: <br />Henry Engelke, Mrs. Robert Olson, Mrs. S.R. Wheaton, Miss Eleanor Mickerson. <br /> <br />Mr. Schulte of the Gamble Store complained about cars being parked in the street in front of his <br />store all day and asked if there could be restricted parking on the street. <br /> <br />Mr. Bicknow was present and brought up the matter of drainage in the west end of town. There was <br />some discussion about it. Les Derr was asked to make further investigation about the drainage. <br /> <br />Marshall Oliver Micheau made a report of the activities of the village Police Department during the <br />year. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Meyer to engage Geo Moos as extra police to be on <br />duty two and on half working days a week or in emergency. Carried. <br /> <br />The following bills including liquor bills were allowed and ordered paid: <br />August Leider – labor (Oct) 189.00 <br />August Leider – labor (Nov) 139.00 <br />Fire Department – mutual aid 38.75 <br />Morris Wilson – pipe (steel) 20.00 <br />Elk River Utilities – street lights 100.00 <br />Elk River Utilities – hydrant rent 66.00 <br />Elk River Utilities – traffic siren 37.65 <br />Zella M Page – janitor service 10.75 <br />Zella M Page – library books 43.57 <br />Zella M Page – salary and asst 75.50 <br />Geo Moos – police 66.00 <br />Wm Roggatz – gas and oil 39.01 <br />Anthony Burgoyne – hauling 24.00 <br />Oil Co of Elk River – gas and oil 3.97 <br />Hettrick Bros – gas and oil 3.76 <br />Hettrick Bros – floor wax 2.50 <br /> <br />
