<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />November 2, 1953 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Nov 2, 1953. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> E.A. Parent, Mayor; Harry Dow, Dan Bailey, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, <br />Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Parent. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />Lester Derr reported on drainage problems in west end of town. <br /> <br />A cigarette license was approved for Lewis Fickness for his service station. <br /> <br />The Council agreed to suspend sewer rental for Mrs. Scott while her house is closed up for the <br />winter. <br /> <br />There was some discussion regarding village zoning. Nothing definite was done at this meeting. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Bailey to set the hours for the village election Dec 8 <br />from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: <br />Sherburne County – black topping 3294.68 <br />Central Elk Motors – gas, oil, repairs 38.67 <br />Farm Bureau – fuel 28.11 <br />Texaco Station – gas and oil 23.50 <br />Poucher Printing Co – police supplies 6.50 <br />Farm Bureau – gas, oil, fire dept 29.68 <br />Anderson and Putnam – decorating library 250.00 <br />E.R. Utilities – hydrant rent 64.00 <br />E.R. Utilities – street lights 100.00 <br />E.R.
