<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />March 2, 1953 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Mar 2, 1953. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> E.A. Parent, Mayor; Harry Dow, Dan Bailey, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, <br />Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Parent. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />A petition signed by property owners in Walker’s Addition Revised asking that certain streets in that <br />addition be vacated was presented to the council. A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by <br />Dow to approve the petition and have notice of hearing published in the Star News. Hearing to be <br />held at the Council room on April 6, 1953 at 8:00 P.M. The motion carried. <br /> <br />Donovan, Incorporated of St. Paul, Minn. made application for Natural Gas Franchise for the <br />Village of Elk River. After considerable discussion by the council and Village Attorney Trustee <br />Bailey proposed Ordinance No. 45 granting franchise for this purpose to Donovan, Inc. and moved <br />it’s adoption. Motion was seconded by Trustee Meyer and being put to a vote was carried. All voting <br />in favor. <br /> <br />There was some discussion regarding the matter of two hour parking. The Council agreed to put the <br />order in force as soon as the signs are up. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved and ordered paid: <br />Elk River Lmbr and Mch Co – mdse 58.80 <br />Hettrick Bros – gas and oil 72.71 <br />H.B. Allen Inc – push buttons 20.00 <br />Fire Department – fires 63.00 <br />Lehn Electric – repair signals 23.65 <br />Standard Oil Co – fuel oil 31.73 <br />Miller-Davis Co – village orders 14.77 <br />Farm Bureau – gas and oil 2.84 <br />Rooter and Johnson – work at dump 240.00 <br />Nickerson Bros – truck repairs 22.49 <br />Oil Co of Elk River – fuel oil 38.07 <br />Sherburne Co. – weed notices 5.44 <br />August Leider – labor 171.29 <br />Anthony Burgoyne – snow removal 162.00 <br />Zella M Page – salary 70.00 <br />Zella M Page – janitor service 10.00 <br />Zella M Page – library books 51.86 <br />Elk River Utilities – mdse lights 50.75 <br />Elk River Utilities – street lights 100.00 <br />Elk River Utilities – hydrant rent 56.00 <br /> <br />
