<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />February 2, 1953 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Feb 2, 1953. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> E.A. Parent, Mayor; Harry Dow, Dan Bailey, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, <br />Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Parent. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Dow and seconded by Meyer to approve transfer of $4500.00 from the <br />Liquor Fund to the General Fund for the purpose of paying registered sewer warrants and interest. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />Ben Gray was present and there was some discussion as to what salary is to paid village assessor for <br />this year. A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Dow to allow $500.00 for the season. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />Morris Wilson’s Bond as Justice of the Peace was approved upon motion by Dow and seconded by <br />Meyer. All voting in favor. <br /> <br />A delegation from the Fire Department met with the Council. They would like to make some <br />alterations in the fire barn to accommodate an ambulance which they plan to buy. The council gave <br />tentative approval providing the changes would not weaken the building. They asked that someone <br />look over the building to see if the work can be done safely. <br /> <br />Trustee Bailey offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br /> <br />Resolved: Two hour parking in the village be instituted on the following streets: Main Street from <br />Quincy to Highway 10 – Princeton Street Main to Highway No. 10 <br /> <br />Highway No. 1010 from Main to Highway No. 10 – Quincy Street on the east side thereof and on <br />the west side from Court House Alley to Highway No. 10. Violation of this to result in a fine of not <br />to exceed $5.00 plus costs with the exception of physicians cars. The resolution was duly second by <br />Meyer and passed all voting in favor. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: <br />August Leider – labor 188.99 <br />N.W. Bell Tele Co – Jan 10.80 <br />Coast to Coast Store – mdse for Hall 6.87 <br />Zella M Page – Jan salary 70.00 <br />E.R. Utilities – street lights 100.00 <br />E.R. Utilities – hydrant rent 56.00 <br />E.R. Utilities – Mdse lights 102.96 <br />Coast to Coast Store – mdse 2.89 <br /> <br />
