VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING January 7, 1952 A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Jan 7, 1952. Members present: E.A. Parent, Mayor; Harry Dow, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ryding, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, Clerk The meeting was called to order by Mayor elect E.A. Parent. The newly elected officers, Trustee Harry Dow and Mayor E.A. Parent were installed. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Dow to appoint Charles M Nelson, Marshall for 1952 at a salary of $215.00 a month plus $35.00 a month for use of his car. Motion carried. The following standing committees were appointed by Mayor Parent for 1952: Sewer Committee – Ryding, Parent, Bailey Parks and Playgrounds – Briggs, Ryding Liquor Committee – Parent, Ryding, Dow Relief Committee- Briggs, Bailey Road and Bridge – Bailey, Dow, Briggs A motion was made by Ryding and seconded by Briggs to approve application for on and off license at Tip Top Café of Clemen Steelpflug and cancel the gagen license. Motion carried. The following bills were approved and ordered paid: Nickerson Bros – gas, oil, mdse 3.87 Fire Department – fires 48.00 First Nat’l Bank – ins fire truck 7.50 Nickerson Bros – welding 2.00 J.E. Madsen – welding 1.00 Big Lake Gravel Co – sand 3.00 Oil Co of Elk River – gas and oil 81.53 Bank of Elk River – clerk and justice bond 10.00 Star News – printing 40.35 Skelly Oil Co – fuel 28.56 Fairway Store – groc Aug. Leider 10.00 Farm Bureau – gas 7.37 Farm Bureau – fuel 8.95 Marshall Wells – mdse 6.95 Anthony Burgoyne – snow removal 18.00 T.H. Daly – insurance 50.66 Ohio Chem. And Sur Co – oxygen 14.70 Mabel Greupner – election board 9.00 Rose Dare – election board 9.00 A.M. Gagen – election board 9.00
