VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING January 3, 1950 A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Jan 3, 1950. Members present: R. A. Ellingson, Mayor; Emil Parent, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ryding, Trustees; H.A. Briggs The meeting was called to order by Mayor elect Ray A Ellingson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The clerk made a report of officers elected at the recent village election. For Mayor – Ray A Ellingson Trustee – Ray A Ryding A committee from the Fire Department asked permission to purchase certain supplies and equipment for the Fire Truck. The council granted permission to make the purchases. A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Parent to transfer the balance of the $4500.00, $185.00 back to the Liquor Fund. Carried. A motion was made by Parent and seconded by Ryding to appoint Charles M Nelson village Marshall for the coming year at his present salary. Motion carried. A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Parent to appoint Otis Nickerson as a member of the Power and Light Commission. Motion carried. A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Ryding to appoint Margaret Degnan, Deputy Village Treasurer. Carried. Motion by Bailey and second by Parent to appoint Dr. A. B. Roehlke Chairman of the Village Board of Health. Carried. The following standing committees were appointed: Parks and Playgrounds – Brigs – Ryding Relief – Briggs – Bailey Sewer – Ryding – Ellingson Bailey Liquor – Parent, Ryding, Ellingson Road and Bridge – Bailey, Parent, Briggs The following bills were approved and ordered paid: Ferdinand Kipluth – street work 17.55 Dick Wombill – street work 9.75 E.J. Jansen – rent of dump 60.00 Oil Co of Elk River – gas and oil truck 18.66 Oil Co of Elk River – fuel for hall 22.92
