<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />October 3, 1949 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Oct 3, 1949. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Oscar Odegard, Mayor; Emil Parent, Dan Bailey, Trustees; H.A. Briggs <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Odegard. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />Wm A Patenaude met with the council in regard to a new street in his part of town to give access to <br />some lots he owns. The council agreed to send a committee over to investigate. <br /> <br />D. Hedden and Russell Oliver were present and made objection to granting a building permit for a <br />cabin camp by J.H. Bayer of Golden Valley. J.H. Bayer had made application for a cabin camp on <br />Highway 10 in the west part of town and Hedden and Oliver objected to having it so close to their <br />property. <br /> <br />After due consideration the council refused to grant the building permit for the cabin camp. The <br />motion to refuse the permit was made by Bailey and seconded by Parent. Carried. <br /> <br />A committee composed of Chester Waite, Carl Marohn and Fred Kreger appeared and requested a <br />street light in their neighborhood. The council agreed to have a street light installed in the Waite <br />neighborhood and also one at the east end of Outlook Ave near the new football field. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Parent and seconded by Briggs to approve transfer of funds from Liquor <br />Fund to Sewer Fund; $3000.00 on Aug 4, 1949 and $2000.00 for Oct 8, 1949. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The following levy was made by 1950: <br />General Fund $10,000.00 <br />Road and Bridge Fun 4,000.00 <br />Library Fund 1000.00 <br />Poor Fund 800.00 <br />Band 2 mills <br /> <br />Special Assessment to take care of expense of Public Examiner Audit $3589.00. <br /> <br />This special assessment was to pay the expense of the audit by Public Examiner amounting to <br />$3121.20 plus 15%. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved and ordered paid: <br />Dick Bruchs – street work 18.20 <br />Dick Wombill – street work 18.20 <br />Ted Mickelson – street work 78.65 <br />E.R. Utilities – Sept lights 355.06 <br />N.W. Bell Telephone Co – Sept 9.20 <br /> <br />
