<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />September 6, 1949 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Sept 6, 1949. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Oscar Odegard, Mayor; Emil Parent, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ellingson, Trustees; H.A. <br />Briggs <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Odegard. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />Andrew Madison asked about buying the concrete blocks of one of the dugouts at the old ball park. <br />The clerk agreed to find out whether the blocks belong to the ball team or the village. <br /> <br />The matter of sidewalk repairs was discussed. The Council ruled that sidewalk repairs shall be paid <br />by the property owner unless the damage was caused by the village in putting in sewer or the other <br />village work. <br /> <br />Application for renewal of on and off beer license by Rudy Schermer was approved and the clerk <br />was instructed to issue the renewal. <br /> <br />The following building permits were approved: <br />Hilda Duplin <br />Peter Belanger <br />Rev. Aufelt <br /> <br />The Clerk was asked to write the State Highway regarding the traffic signals at the intersection of <br />Highways 169 and 10. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved and ordered paid: <br />Ted Mickelson – street work 62.40 <br />Dick Wombill – street work 41.60 <br />Dick Bruchs – street work 5.20 <br />Fred O. Brenteson – work new street 196.00 <br />E.R. Utilities – hydrant rent 52.00 <br />Elk River Utilities – lights 383.29 <br />Donald Johnson – street work 30.60 <br />Sunbeam Grange – rent – ball park 61.07 <br />Great Northern Ry Co – freights 2.40 <br />Zella M Page – salary 50.00 <br />Zella M Page – library books 25.18 <br />Zella M Page – janitor service 7.00 <br />First Nat’l Bank – insurance hall 12.96 <br />Star News – printing 5.95 <br />Oil Co of Elk River – truck repair 1.50 <br />Kemper Drug Co – First Aid kit 1.98 <br /> <br />
