<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />June 6, 1949 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on June 6, 1949. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Oscar Odegard, Mayor; Emil Parent, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ellingson, Trustees; H.A. <br />Briggs <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Odegard. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />Al Embretson was present and inquired as to the possibility of building several tourist cabins on his <br />property on the main highway. The Clerk was asked to look up the minutes for several years back to <br />see if there has been any resolution against tourist cabins in Elk River. <br /> <br />The matter of the State Examiner’s bill for the Village Audit was brought up. For the reason that the <br />village does not have enough money on hand to pay this bill a motion was made by Ellingson, <br />seconded by Briggs and carried unanimously to pay the bill with a registered warrant and make a <br />special assessment for the amount plus ten percent. <br /> <br />The Rural Co-operative Power Assn has asked permission to attach to the village sanitary sewer <br />when their new building is started. A motion was made by Ellingson and seconded by Parent that <br />the clerk be instructed to write the State Water Pollution Control Commission for permission to do <br />this. Carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Parent and seconded by Bailey to appoint Wm Patenaude Jr a member of <br />the Power Light and Water Commission in place of Vernon Skellenger who is unable to serve at the <br />present time. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Parent to approve the following applications for <br />building permits: <br />H.J. LaVine <br />H.A. Briggs <br /> <br />The motion carried all voting in favor. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: <br />Postmaster – postage 5.00 <br />Peterson Block Co – sidewalks 494.86 <br />Richard Bruchs – street work 20.80 <br />Dick Wombill – street work 20.80 <br />Ted Mickelson – salary 87.75 <br />Coast to Coast Store – mdse 14.86 <br />Coast to Coast Store – mdse 14.32 <br />Zella M Page – salary 50.00 <br />Zella M Page – library book 15.08 <br /> <br />
