<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />March 1, 1948 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Mar 1, 1948. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Oscar Odegard, Mayor; Elmer Leger, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ellingson, Trustees; H.A. <br />Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Odegard. <br /> <br />The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Ferdinand Kipputh complained about the drainage on his mother’s property. The council agreed to <br />have Les Derr look into and see what could be done. <br /> <br />Mr. Peterson requested that the council have the street plowed of snow past his cement block plant <br />and the council agreed to have this done. <br /> <br />Upon request of Gust Johnson it was agreed to have a complete listing of all the insurance policies <br />in force on village property. The clerk was instructed to mail a copy of the list to Mr. Johnson. <br /> <br />James Thomas presented a bill for use of his car while he was employed as deputy Marshall and <br />upon motion by Leger and second by Ellingson he was allowed $110.00 for his car. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Ellingson and seconded by Leger that the council advertise for bids for new <br />bar and back bar for the Municipal Liquor Store. The motion carried and the clerk was instructed to <br />insert the proper advertisement in the local paper. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Leger and seconded by Ellingson to have Less Derr appointed Deputy <br />Marshall. The motion carried. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: <br />Charles M Nelson – Feb salary and car $235.00 <br />Lester Derr – half Feb salary 112.50 <br />H.A. Briggs – Feb salary 40.00 <br />James Thomas – half Feb salary 92.50 <br />James Thomas – use of car 5 ½ mo – 110.00 <br />Zella M Page – Feb salary 35.00 <br />Zella M Page – library books 30.51 <br />Zella M Page – janitor service 7.00 <br />N.W. Bell Telephone Co – Feb 9.30 <br />E.R. Utilities – Feb 213.84 <br />Coast to Coast Store – mdse for Hall 4.95 <br />Fire Department – fires 111.00 <br />Nickerson Bros – repair fire truck 17.30 <br />Nickerson Bros – gas and labor 12.05 <br /> <br />
