VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING March 1, 1948 A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Mar 1, 1948. Members present: Oscar Odegard, Mayor; Elmer Leger, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ellingson, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, Clerk The meeting was called to order by Mayor Odegard. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Ferdinand Kipputh complained about the drainage on his mother’s property. The council agreed to have Les Derr look into and see what could be done. Mr. Peterson requested that the council have the street plowed of snow past his cement block plant and the council agreed to have this done. Upon request of Gust Johnson it was agreed to have a complete listing of all the insurance policies in force on village property. The clerk was instructed to mail a copy of the list to Mr. Johnson. James Thomas presented a bill for use of his car while he was employed as deputy Marshall and upon motion by Leger and second by Ellingson he was allowed $110.00 for his car. A motion was made by Ellingson and seconded by Leger that the council advertise for bids for new bar and back bar for the Municipal Liquor Store. The motion carried and the clerk was instructed to insert the proper advertisement in the local paper. A motion was made by Leger and seconded by Ellingson to have Less Derr appointed Deputy Marshall. The motion carried. The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: Charles M Nelson – Feb salary and car $235.00 Lester Derr – half Feb salary 112.50 H.A.
