<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />July 6, 1959 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Village Hall on July 6, 1959. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Henry Johnson, Mayor; G.R Bergerson, August Meyer, R.G. Kemper, Trustees; H.A. <br />Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. <br /> <br />Mr. Norman Thompson applied for an on and off beer license in his place in the old theatre <br />building. A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Bergerson to grant the license. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />Al Donahue was present and asked if there could be no parking or fifteen minute parking in front of <br />the new post office. The council agreed that this shall be done. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Bergerson and second by Kemper off sale beer license of Geo Dietz was renewed <br />for one year. <br /> <br />Bob Olson asked about the sewer for the Meadowvale section. This will be started as soon as <br />possible after contract is let on the sewer disposal plant. <br /> <br />Dean Sampson showed samples of house numbers. Motion by Kemper and seconded by Briggs to <br />order the bronze number and charge 30 cents each for the individual numbers. Carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Bergerson to appoint Douglas Stillwell on the <br />Library Board to fill vacancy caused by resignation of Rev. Rice. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Chief of Police, Oliver Micheau suggested that no truck parking signs be placed in certain places in <br />the village. The council will decide later. <br /> <br />George Moos asked for a vacation. Instead the council agreed to a raise in pay. A motion was made <br />by Briggs and seconded by Kemper to raise George Moos’ salary to $1.45 per hour. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Architect, Frederick Mosse showed plans for remodeling of the creamery building and asked <br />Council to have the property surveyed. The Council will have this done. <br /> <br />Stanley Wheaton was present. He has a person who would like to build a nursing home somewhere <br />in upper town and asked when the sewer and water will be available there. The Council could not <br />give any definite answer. <br /> <br />Bills <br />Star News – sewer cards 40.55 <br />Carter Krueger and A – services 1055.30 <br />Dale Kramer – janitor 5.00 <br /> <br />
