<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />July 6, 1937 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Tuesday July 6, 1937 at 8 <br />o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br />J.D. Flaherty, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Wm Patenaude, Trustees; <br />Wm H Greupner, Clerk. <br /> <br />The minutes of last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />The increasing traffic on Main Street was brought up and after a lengthy discussion a motion was <br />made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Wm Greupner to have Wm Patenaude, trustee, hire someone to <br />remove the two stop signs that are on Main Street now and have them placed in the center of the <br />intersection at Main and Princeton St. Mr. Patenaude to take care of the following painting jobs – <br />pail yellow lanes for pedestrians at this intersection, paint yellow on the curb at the First Natl Bank, <br />Caley’s and Hahns Corners, in front of the doctors offices, paint lines for bus stop and also paint the <br />number 30 several places on Main Street as a reminder of 30 mile an hour traffic. All the hydrants to <br />have one coat of paint. Upon roll call the motion was carried. <br /> <br />Jim Robbinette, the man who painted the village tank 4 yrs ago, came before the council and said <br />that he had looked at the tank and noticed there were some places that needed a coat of paint and he <br />would do this work for $150.00. It was decided to let it go until next year. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Wm Patenaude to have the clerk draw a warrant for <br />$250.00 to the Firemens Relief Association for the annual payment on the new fire truck. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />The terms of Mrs. Tesch, L.D. Bailey and Wm Greupner of the Library board having expired at this <br />time a motion was made by G.A Bailey seconded by Wm Patenaude to reappoint Mrs. Tesch, Bailey <br />and Greupner for another three years. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Wm Greupner seconded by G.A. Bailey to allow the Library board to spend <br />$100.00 a year on books. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The clerk reported that L.G. Nelson, Mgr of the E.R. Power and Lt Co had told him that the cost of <br />putting in a light at the corner across the railroad tracks on Hope Street would cost $228.00 for <br />installation and their company would stand half of the expenses. It was decided not to put this light <br />in at this time because the cost was too great. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Wm Greupner to allow the following bills and <br />order them payed. <br />N.W. Bell Tele Co – tele rent – 4.40 <br />E.R. Power and Lt Co – Power and lights 242.64 <br />Harold Sykes – school police 3.50 <br />Frank White – legal fees 5.00 <br /> <br />
