<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />October 7, 1935 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday October 7, 1935 <br />at 8 o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br />D.E. Davis, Pres.; Geo. Cornelius, Wm Patenaude, J.D. Flaherty, Trustees; <br />Wm H Greupner, Clerk. <br /> <br />Minutes of last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />S.F. Ellefson came before the Council and stated that he had applied for relief at the relief office and <br />was told he had to have an approval from the Village Council. After investigating Mr. Ellefsons case <br />it was found he moved into Elk River May 31, 1935 and he was not a resident of the Village <br />therefore he should see the town board from where he came which was Santiago. <br /> <br />L.G. Nelson and E.E. Stower representing the Sherburne Co. Fair Assoc asked for an appropriation <br />to help pay expenses of the Fair. A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by J.D. Flaherty <br />to allow the Fair Board $250.00. The same amount allowed in farmer years. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Gladys Hulbert was present and stated that they were in need of Relief and also her mother needed <br />to be sent to the Hospital. A motion was made by J.D. Flaherty, seconded by Wm. Greupner to <br />have the Clerk write an approval so that Hulberts could receive relief and also second Mrs. Hulbert <br />to the University Hospital for medical care. <br /> <br />Richard Halter, assessor, sent a recommendation to have Geo and Francis Beck property valuation <br />reduced to the 1932 valuation. A motion was made by Wm Patenaude seconded by Geo Cornelius <br />to allow this reduction and have the clerk notify the County Auditor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />L.G. Nelson stated he had attended a Princeton Council meeting and they were planning on passing <br />a zoning Ordinance. He had spoken to H.J. Madden field representative of the League of <br />Municipalities and they would be glad to send a representative of Zoning in Elk River. The Clerk <br />was instructed to write the League of Municipalities and ask them to have a man present at our next <br />Council meeting. <br /> <br />D.E. Davis, Mayor reported that Mrs. Humphrey had asked him about having a driveway made on <br />her property on Depot Street. She stated at the time the highway was put in the they made a <br />driveway for her neighbor and she had been using it. Now the property is sold and she felt she <br />should have a driveway of her own. The Clerk was instructed to write Mr. Jergens Maintenance <br />Engineer and ask if they would make a driveway for Mrs. Humphrey. <br /> <br />The following budget for the year 1936 was presented and after some discussion adopted. <br /> <br />General 5000.00 <br />Poor 1000.00 <br />Road and Bridge 1150.00 <br /> <br />
