<br />The regulaT semi-monthly meeting of the Elk River Village Council was called <br />to order by Mayor Bartelt on Jan. 18, 1971 at 7:30 pm. in ~he Village Cduncil <br />Room. Members present were Mayor Bartelt, Councilmen, Hudson, Syring, Konop, <br />and otto. . <br /> <br />The minutes of the Jan. 4, 1971 meeting and the special meeting of the Jan. <br />11,1971 m8111I~ were read. After one correction was made in the minutes <br />the minutes were approved as read.' , <br /> <br />Bill Mills, an engineer met with the Council and discussed a proposed sanitory <br />landfill dump, which would have to be filled after every day in which it ~s <br />used. Als"o, the dump .v'iOuld ha.ve to be f~J;lced. The sand would have to be kept <br />free from f-rost in the winter time; Mr. Mills was of the opinion that using <br />privateha'Ulers would be more economical for the Village then using this <br />landfill system for the Villages'dtlinp.. Mr. Mills will make up an application <br />for the sa:nitary landfill and return it to the 60unciol. Mr. Mills stated. that <br />:r~Philco waS' one of the better companys to put a mechanica.-l seal in our sewer <br />filter. Mr. Mills also mentioned a ;f5ossible future problem which the Inew <br />school might cause on the storm sewer overload on the low peat bog. 'The <br />Council wil:l have to check with Mr. MacGibbon on the future school drainage <br />effect. Mr. Mills said that about the only money possibly avai18ble for a <br />sewer line 1.0 the Industrial Park would be a Federal land grant. <br /> <br />Harry Dreissig gave his committees recommendations to the Council, that the <br />Council should accept the bids on the fire truck, equipment, and truck chassis. <br />He also reoommended an automatic transmission for the truck. <br /> <br />The Council next met with the Utilities Commissioners. The buzzihg noise <br />located around the Methodist church will try to fixed. The Commissioners said <br />{'hat their electric rates were in line with other electric companys and should <br />not be changed at this time. Meter checking was discussed and the Council <br />suggested that utilities only check the meters every other month instead of <br />every month which they are presently doing. The commissioners are considering <br />putting on a f<frth man at the plant.
