CU 93-29 REQUESTED ACTION A conditional use permit request to operate a tailoring and craft business out of her home. LOCATION OF REQUEST 82 61/2 Street NW (Lot 6, Block 1, Barrington Place Estates) , Elk River, MN. ZONING/LAND USE PUD (Planned Unit Development) ; MR (Medium Density Residential) ATTACHMENTS • Location Map, Zoning Map, Letter from Applicant, Property Owners List BACKGROUND The applicant is applying for a conditional use permit to operate a tailoring and craft business out of her home. The business will involve tailoring, repairing, and altering customer clothes . The applicant has indicated that she will be the only employee of the business and plans on working approximately 20 hours per week. Of that 20 hours, 16 hours would be open to the public. The applicant is proposing to deliver the tailored items back to the customer when finished to try to limit some of the excess traffic . The applicant will also make custom crafts by request. Most will be sold off-site however, she has indicated she would like to have an open house before Christmas . Elk River City Code requires this type of home occupation receives a conditional use permit due to the on-site sales potential . HOURS OF OPERATION The applicant would like to work 20 hours per week and be open to the public 16 hours per week. The hours of operation will be Tuesday (2 p.m. to 8 p.m. ) , and Wednesday and Thursday ( 11 • a.m. to 4 p.m. ) . The applicant has indicated that all of her customers will be required to make an appointment, which will limit the number of people at the house at any given time. P.O.
