<br /> <br />Item I 5.3. <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />TO: Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />FROM: Bill Maertz, Director of Parks and Recreation <br /> <br />DATE: April 4, 2005 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Presentation of Preliminary Concept Design for Rivers Edge <br />Commons <br /> <br />Introduction <br />In February 2005, the Parks and Recreation Commission voted to recommend the concept <br />design for River's Edge Commons, also known as the downtown green space. Key elements <br />of this plan are: <br />. Closing the ally that runs through the park <br />. An amphitheatre overlooking the river <br />. A gazebo <br />. Historic interpretation of Elk Rivers past <br />. A street level plaza <br />. A stone staircase leading to the waters edge <br /> <br />Planner Chris Leeseberg will present the plan. If the Council approves the concept design, <br />staff will move forward with cost estimates and preliminary engineering. The 2005 Parks <br />Capital Improvement budget includes $40,000 for design and engineering for this project. <br /> <br />Action Requested <br /> <br />Authorize approval of concept design for Rivers Edge Commons. <br /> <br />Attachments <br /> <br />Rivers Edge Commons Concept Design <br />
