<br />MEETING OF THE ELK RIVER CITY COUNCIL BOARD OF CANVASS <br />HELD AT THE ELK RIVER CONFERENCE ROOM <br />FEBRUARY 16. 1989 <br /> <br />~ Members Present: Gene Schuldt. City Administrator <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Pursuant to <br />City Council <br />Mayor Schuldt. <br /> <br />due call and notice thereof. the meeting of the Elk River <br />Board of Canvass was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Vice <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />Consideration of 2/16/89 Board of Canvass Agenda <br />COUNCILMEMBER DOBEt MOVED TO APPROVE THE 2/16/89 BOARD OF CANVASS AGENDA. <br />cOUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 3-0. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />Consider Election Results of 2/14/89 Referendum <br />The City Administrator informed the City Council that the results of the <br />Special Election Referendum held on February 14. 1989. for the public to <br />consider the purchase of an aerial platform ladder truck in an amount not <br />to exceed $475.000. was approved by a large majority. There were 467 <br />"yes" votes and 70 "no" votes from the public on this issue. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO APPROVE RESOLUTION 89-13, A RESOLUTION <br />DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON FEBRUARY 14. 1989, <br />FOR THE PURCHASE OF AN AERIAL PLATFORM LADDER TRUCK. . COUNCIL MEMBER DOBEt <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 3-0. <br /> <br />The City Council expressed its congratulations to the Fire Department and <br />to the Fire Chief. Russ Anderson. for a job well done in promoting and <br />publicizing the need for this aerial platform ladder truck and <br />encouraging the public to vote in support of this issue. The City <br />Council also expressed its appreciation to Deputy City Clerk. Sandy <br />Thackeray. for the excellent job she did on coordinating and managing the <br />Special Referendum Election. <br /> <br />4. Other Business <br />The City Administrator discussed with the City Council the possibility of <br />having a regularly scheduled Economic Development Authority (EDA) meeting <br />once a month in order to keep the EDA advised as to current economic <br />development issues. It was noted that the City Council has attempted to <br />have its second Monday of each month free of any meetings and that. if <br />needed. this second Monday of each month may be able to be designated as <br />the monthly EDA meeting date. It is anticipated that EDA meetings will <br />be held on the second Monday of April. May and June in order for the EDA <br />to get committee updates on the status of various work projects and to <br />review economic development activities in general. <br /> <br />The City Administrator <br />engineering and legal <br />Estates. <br /> <br />discussed with the City Council some past due <br />expenses related to the 1986 plat called Vernon <br /> <br />e <br />
