<br />ELK RIVER TOWN BOARD MEETING <br />August 18, 1948 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The town board of the twps. of Elk River met with the board of the twps of Burns at the <br />Kastendick corner at 8:30 A.M. <br /> <br />Archie Johnson estimated the cost of building road between $1250.00 and $1500.00 including <br />culverts. Those present were\[: for\] Elk River\[,\] Oscar Engstrom & Everett Rathbun\[;\] for Burns\[,\] <br />Lester Rootes, Charley Johnson, S.T. Wirz, Joe Sundeen. The price seemed agreeable to both <br />townships. Oscar Engstrom was elected chairman of the day. It was put in the form of a motion by <br />Charley Johnson that Rootes and Johnson be allowed to do the job. Seconded by Wirz. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Joe Sundeen and seconded by S. Wirz that Elk River and Burns townships <br />each share cost equally. The graveling was left until the road was completed to see how the funds <br />hold out. It was left up to Archie Johnson to get necessary culverts. <br /> <br />The job was to be done on the hourly basis. <br /> <br />$8.50 for cat and dozer <br />$10.00 for cat and scraper <br />$8.50 for cat and flare <br /> <br />\[No note re: adjournment.\] <br /> <br />E.
