<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />May 28, 1898 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Village Council met at courthouse at 8 o’clock to open bids for grading on Main Street. <br /> <br />Present: H.C. Hastings, President; F.P. Brown, C.T. Nickerson and H.D. Mills, Trustees; <br />Chas. M. Babcock, Recorder. <br /> <br />The following bids were presented: <br /> <br />Felch Bus., $648.00 <br />John McPhearson, $480.00 <br />Iliff and Gray, $450.00 <br />Henry Murphy, $400.00 <br />W.N. Higgins, $299.50 <br /> <br />On motion the bid of W.N. Higgins of $299.50 was accepted and Recorder was instructed to notify <br />Mr. Higgins of the acceptance of his bid and to procure a reasonable bond to do the work in a <br />reasonable time. <br /> <br />The following bills were presented and on motion allowed: <br /> <br />Chas. Blockern, special watchman, $1.00 <br />W.L. Babcock & Sons, supplies for ferry, oil, etc., $22.54 <br /> <br />No further business, adjourned. <br /> <br />Chas. M.
