West 911,..1 1 <br />FIre ChIef V)N1Jj. <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />February 8, 1999 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: 1999 Emergency Siren Purchase <br /> <br />In the 1999 budget, under equipment reserves, is a $13,000 line item for the <br />purchase of one emergency siren to be located in the City of Elk River. At <br />this time I have received a quote from Federal Warning Systems, located in <br />Rochester Minnesota, for one 2001SRN Federal Signal Corporation <br />Emergency Siren with the capability of a 5200' range of coverage. The cost of <br />the siren with sales tax and shipping is $10,472.01. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />I would like to accept the quote from Federal Warning Systems for the <br />purchase of one new 2001SRN Emergency Siren at the cost of $10,472.01. <br />Delivery of the new siren will be approximately 30-45 days. The current 16 <br />emergency sirens in the City of Elk River are all Federal Warning System <br />Sirens. <br /> <br />I would like to update you as to where the newly purchased siren will be <br />located in 1999. Please refer to the enclosed map showing the existing 16 <br />siren locations within the City of Elk River. The second enclosed map <br />highlights the proposed area of coverage for the newly purchased siren. Mter <br />discussion with Glen Sundeen, from Elk River Utilities, the location selected <br />for the 1999 placement will be east of Highway 10 on 165th Avenue NW near <br />the Recycling Center and west of Cargill Farms. Future siren locations in <br />the City of Elk River include: <br /> <br />. Ranch Road (County Road 33) and County Road 32 <br />. Highway 169 and 217th Avenue NW <br />. 221st Avenue NW and Watson Avenue NW <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />My goal is to purchase one emergency siren in each of the next three budget <br />years to complete the emergency siren process. The 1999 emergency siren <br />project shall entail the purchasing of one new pole at a cost of approximately <br />$800 per pole. The electrical hook-up for the siren location will be $800.
