The vice mayor shall perform the duties of the <br />mayor during the disability or absence of the mayor from the city or, <br />if there is a vacancy, until a successor has been appointed. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Although all council members are eligible for this appointment at <br />anytime, it has been past practice to rotate the position. Listed <br />below are Vice Mayor appointments during the past seven years. <br /> <br />. 1992 Holmgren <br />. 1993 Dietz <br />. 1994 Farber <br />. 1995 Scheel <br />. 1996 Holmgren <br />. 1997 Dietz <br />. 1998 Farber <br /> <br />If the council chooses to remain consistent with the above pattern, <br />the next Vice Mayor would be Councilmember Thompson.
