West, Fire Chief ".~~ <br /> <br />January 24, 2000 <br /> <br />2000 Emergency Siren Purchase <br /> <br />In the 2000 budget, under equipment certificates capital outlay, is a $13,000 <br />line item for the purchase of one emergency siren to be located in the city of <br />Elk River. At this time I have received a quote from Federal Warning Systems <br />located in Rochester, Minnesota, for one 2001SRN Federal Signal Corporation <br />Emergency Siren with the capability of a 5200-foot range of coverage. The cost <br />of the siren with sales tax and shipping is $10,807.93. <br /> <br />I would like to accept the quote from Federal Warning Systems for the <br />purchase of one new 2001SRN Emergency Siren at the cost of $10,807.93. <br />Delivery of the new siren will be approximately 30-45 days. The current 17 <br />emergency sirens in the city of Elk River are all Federal Warning System <br />sirens. <br /> <br />I would like to update you as to where the newly purchased siren will be <br />located in 2000. Please refer to the enclosed map showing the existing 17 siren <br />locations within the city of Elk River. The second enclosed map highlights the <br />proposed area of coverage for the newly purchased siren. After discussion with <br />Glen Sundeen, Elk River Municipal Utilities, the location selected for the 2000 <br />placement will be Ranch Road (County Road 33) and County Road 32. Future <br />siren locations in the city of Elk River include: <br /> <br />· Highway 169 and 217th Avenue NW <br />· 221st Avenue NW and Watson Street NW <br /> <br />My goal is to purchase one emergency siren in each of the next two budget <br />years to complete the emergency siren process. The 2000 emergency siren <br />project shall entail the purchasing of one new pole at a cost of approximately <br />$800 per pole. The electrical hook-up for the siren location will be $800.
