River

TO:

FROM:

DATE:

SUBJECT:

MEMORANDUM

Mayor and City Council

Pat Klaers, City Administrator

May 3, 2004

Consider Wellness Equipment Purchases

*Item 3.3.*

I have reviewed and discussed our city wellness room and equipment a number of times in
the past few months with both Ron Nierenhausen and Michele Bergh. Earlier in the year I
indicated that use of equipment reserves was the best funding mechanism for the city in
purchasing new (and replacement) equipment. Both Michele and Ron strongly support the
purchase of the elliptical cross trainer and the universal weight machine and I concur with
their recommendation. With this equipment purchase, it is anticipated that our wellness
equipment needs will be met for the next couple years.

Recommendation
It is recommended that the city authorize the expenditure of not more than $11,000 (plus
tax) from equipment reserves for the purchase and installation of wellness room equipment
as outlined in the attached proposal.

S:~Council~Pat~2004~WcllncssPurc.doc
