City <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />Item'5.4. <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Mayor and City Cou~ncil <br />Michele McPherso~~irector <br /> <br />July 15, 2002 <br /> <br />Comprehensive Plan Update <br /> <br />of Planning <br /> <br />The Comprehensive Plan Task Force met on June 27, 2002 at Lions Park Center. There was <br />good attendance by all members of the Task Force or their alternates. There was no public <br />input at this meeting. The members of the Task Force reviewed the minutes of the May 30~ <br />meeting; discussed the upcoming communication pieces and the June 4th Community Tour; <br />reviewed the results of Public Meeting # 2 and conducted an exercise to begin to identify <br />elements of a vision statement for the future City of Elk River. <br /> <br />The Task Force discussed at length the communications plan and expressed concern with <br />the lack of coverage in the local paper and also difficultly in finding information on the <br />City's Website. Rusty Fifield passed out a draft article for the next city newsletter, which will <br />be delivered August 7th. Rusty and I will be meeting with Jim Boyle to establish a series of <br />articles regarding the Comprehensive Plan for publication in the Elk River Star News. <br /> <br />The Task Force had a good discussion regarding elements of neighborhood and community. <br />This discussion will serve as the foundation for the vision statement of the Comprehensive <br />Plan, which is being drafted by Rusty This will be one of the major topics of conversation <br />at the next Task Force meeting which will be held August 1,2002 at Lion's Park Center <br />from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. <br /> <br />MM:jak <br /> <br />S:\PLANNING\MICHMC\MEMOS\7 02 Compplanupdate.doc <br /> <br /> <br />
