RESOLUTION I2- 54 <br /> • A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER <br /> A RESOLUTION PROCLAMING OCTOBER AS ENERGY ACTION <br /> MONTH <br /> WHEREAS, The President of the United States proclaimed October 2011 as National <br /> Energy Action Month to call upon the citizens of the United States to make <br /> cleaner energy choices that will help build a stronger Nation, a more robust <br /> economy, and a healthier environment for our children; and <br /> WHEREAS, Energy resources enable our most basic daily needs including producing <br /> food, fueling transportation, and powering our homes and businesses; and <br /> WHEREAS, The City of Elk River has been known as Energy City since 1997 when it was <br /> chosen by the Minnesota Environmental Initiative to act as a geographical <br /> focal point for the demonstration of efficient and renewable energy products, <br /> services, and technologies; and <br /> WHEREAS, Elk River is recognized internationally for their continued innovation in <br /> alternative energy technologies;and <br /> • WHEREAS, The mission of the Energy City Commission is to be a resource to promote <br /> and educate about energy efficiency; and <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River <br /> that the month of October be proclaimed as Energy Action Month. <br /> Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Elk River,Minnesota this 1st day of <br /> October 2012. <br /> Jo n J. tietz, r <br /> ATTEST: <br /> Tina Allard, City er <br /> • <br /> N:\Public Bodies\City Council\Council RCA\Agenda Packet\10-01-2012\Energy Awareness Month Resolution.docx <br />
