Statute requires that resolutions for donations are .adopted by a 2/3 <br />majority vote. <br />BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION <br />Parks and Recreation staff was contacted by the local Lions Club to donate up to 25 trees to the Parks. <br />and Recreation Department. The planting sites will be determined by staff in consultation with the Lions <br />Club. It was suggested at the recent Park Commission meeting that the Lions donate the trees to Trott <br />Brook Farms Park. <br />The tree species chosen are: Emerald Maple, Northern Acclaim Honey Locust, Robusta Poplar, and <br />American Linden. These are six inch bare root saplings. This tree program was started by the Lions Club <br />International President who challenged each local club to plant more trees in their community. <br />The tree donations were unanimously recommended at the April 11 Park and Recreation Commission <br />meeting. Harold Gramstad will be at the April 16 City Council meeting representing the Lions Club. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />The Lions Club will donate up to 25 trees to the Elk River Parks and Recreation Department.
