We posted internally for candidates interested in filling this position. Although I <br />received inquiries from others, we received a letter of interest from one employee, Dennis Walker. <br />Dennis Walker has worked for the Ice Arena on a part-time basis since December of 1999. In September <br />2011, he was hired to fill the full-time lead worker position vacated by Case Hayward's retirement. <br />Dennis has proven to be a dedicated and skilled employee and we are happy to be able to offer him this <br />promotion. <br />Mr. Walker will begin a six month orientation period on February 22, 2012. Although he has ice arena <br />refrigeration experience, during his orientation he is required to complete ice arena refrigeration training. <br />Mr. Walker will be eligible for a step increase following successful completion of both the training and <br />the orientation period. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />This is a budgeted position; however, there should be savings of approximately $8,000 due to the pay <br />difference between Mr. Davis' step E to Mr. Walker's step A. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />None <br />Action Motion by Second by Vote <br />Follow Up <br />P~11E1E~ 1- <br />N:\Public Bodies\City Counc$\Council RCA\Agenda Packet\02-21-2012\Walker Promotion.docx <br />
