ELK RIVER LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES <br />January 27, 1998 <br />Board Members: <br />Murray McNair, Chair present <br />Eleanor Holm, Secretary present <br />Elly Kretsch absent <br />Linda Ritchie present <br />Robert Jones (New Board Member) present <br />Also present: Mick Stoffers, Librarian Verne Olekscowicz, GRRL <br />Verne reported to the Board on changes in GRRL Internet usage. <br />Previous to February 1 anyone could use the Internet including <br />those without a library card. As of February 1 Internet users <br />must have a library card with no outstanding library fines. <br />Verne also informed us that there are software filters for <br />preventing undesirable access to the Internet. Elk River <br />Library will be a test site for this software. A patron can <br />apply to GRRL to unblock a site and the request will be reviewed. <br />Agenda was adopted with one addition: Glass coverage on <br />insurance policy. <br />The November minutes were approved as presented. <br />No correspondence or suggestion box items to discuss. <br />Discussion of bills and budget updates for November through <br />December 5 was held and acceptance was moved by Murray and <br />seconded by Linda. All in favor. <br />Old Business: <br />Discussion was held regarding the purchase of a memorial <br />plaque to show appreciation for monetary donations to our <br />library. The Board was very receptive to this idea and a <br />motion was made by Eleanor and seconded by Linda to purchase <br />a plaque for display in the entry. All in favor. <br />Mick reported that all leftover shelving has been sold. Thank <br />you to Murray McNair for building additional shelving in the <br />community room closet, building shelving in the community <br />room from leftover shelving units and for fixing the coat rack. <br />
