Zerwas <br /> Chief of Police <br /> <br />ITEM 4.4. <br /> <br />.'g F BER <br /> <br />February 28, 1997 <br /> <br />To: <br /> <br />Mayor Duitsman & City Council Members <br />13065 Orono Parkway <br />Elk River, MN 55330 <br /> <br />From: <br /> <br />Sergeant Ron Nierenhausen <br />Elk River Police Dept. <br />13065 Orono Parkway <br />Elk River, MN 55330 <br /> <br />Subject: Fitness Equipment & Fitness Room Usage <br /> <br />Dear Mayor Duitsman and Council: <br /> <br />As a Certified Fitness Instructor for the City of Elk River, it <br />is my position to periodically speak with the employees <br />concerning fitness room equipment and usage. <br /> <br />Based on my conversations with several of these individuals, it <br />has been brought to my attention that some of the employees are <br />finding it difficult to gain access to some of the equipment when <br />they are attempting to work out. <br /> <br />As you are aware, the fitness room is starting to be used more <br />frequently by more and more employees. Although this is a good <br />sign that employees are becoming more health conscious, it has <br />also created a problem with availability of equipment. <br /> <br />In an attempt to rectify this situation, I have attained quotes <br />for additional pieces of equipment. At this time, .I am <br />recommending to the Council that the City purchase an additional <br />treadmill, which would give us a total of two in the fitness <br />room. This purchase would solve several problems, one being <br />availability during peak hours and also, with the addition of a <br />second treadmill, it would reduce the usage of the one that we <br />already have, therefore, keeping breakdowns to a minimum and <br />enabling the treadmill to last longer. <br /> <br />I would also recommend to the Council that a periodic review of <br /> <br />13065 Orono Parkway · P.O.
