MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Ice Arena Commission, Members <br />FROM: Rich Czech, Arena Manager <br />DATE: Apri19, 2010 <br />SUBJECT: Agenda Memo -April 13, 2010 <br />5. 2008 Financial update <br />Attached for your review is the budget information for the years 2006 - 2010. Tim <br />Simon, the cities finance director, will be at the meeting to discuss in detail the 2009 final <br />budget numbers, at the meeting Tim will provide handouts for your review. <br />6. Office of Energy /Security Grant <br />The Arena (City) has submitted three energy saving projects to the State Office of <br />Energy /Security Office. The follow projects were submitted; <br />1) New boilers for hot water for the Zamboni and the in floor heating <br />2) New Lighting System in over the Olympic Rink, Barn rink, as well as other area's <br />of the Arena that need the light fixtures updated. <br />3) Low emissive ceiling (vapor barrier) in Olympic rink. <br />The State Office of Energy /Security awarded the city $87,065.00, the full amount that <br />was requested. The city will also receive another $10,650.00 in rebates form Elk River <br />Municipal and center Point Energy. The city portion of the project will be $39,417.00, <br />which will come from the Bleacher fund that is collected from the sales of varsity ticket <br />sales. <br />We are still working with the grant process, but are hopeful that the actual project(s) will <br />begin mid May and will be completed before the start of the summer ice skating season in <br />mid June. <br />7. Compressors Vessels A.S.M.E. Certification <br />Attached for your review is the report I received after the cities insurance adjuster <br />inspected the ice plants at the Arena. In the report it is noted that there are three vessels <br />that are not tagged with the American Society of Mechanical Engineer (A.S.M.E.) tag <br />that the State requires. I have been working with the insurance adjuster, the cities <br />building officials, and Commercial Refrigeration, our contractor for the ice plants to <br />resolve this problem that would be the least expense. <br />The vessels in question are part of the two ice plants and have been inspected several <br />times over the years. There has never been an issue until this last report. Due to the <br />
