Item: 8.2.A. <br />fiver <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Parks and Recreation Commission <br />FROM: Bill Maertz, Parks and Recreation Director <br />DATE: February 10, 2010 <br />SUBJECT: Rice Lake Park Concept Development <br />Staff has been involved in conversations with residents from the Ridges of Rice Lake <br />neighborhood regarding the development of Rice Lake Park. The city acquired this 27 acre <br />parcel for a community park. The previous owner of this parcel has a life estate to farm the <br />land but has indicated that he would be willing to release a portion of it for park <br />development. Attached please find the original concept plan and some recent draft concept <br />plans. <br />At this time staff is requesting commission feedback on moving forward with concept <br />development of phase one of the park development. There are no funds currently budgeted <br />for this project, however the neighborhood has indicated an interest in fundraising efforts. <br />Residents of Ridges of Rice Lake will be attending the Park Commission meeting and would <br />like an opportunity to present a petition. <br />Attachments: <br />Concept Designs <br />Residents Survey Results <br />
