Star News. Elk River, Dayton, Ramsey, Otsego, Rogers, Zimmerman, Minnesota, news, sp... Page 1 of 1
Power cartoon didn't connect ;~~~
Friday, 11 September 2009
Your cartoon on the Sept. 5 editorial page referenced the Citizen's League meeting I spoke at last week concerning future
challenges for our public utilities. Your black cartoon then said "but we appear to have lost power."
I can take a joke as well as the next person, but power reliability is not a laughing matter. Elk River Municipal Utilities takes its
responsibility to have as few outages as possible very seriously. In fact, if you check the records you will see that ERMU is one of
the most reliable power companies in the area. That reliability is one reason we now have two data centers that add
tremendously to the local economy.
I think your cartoonist could find better things to poke fun at. Your cartoon did not amuse those of us associated with Elk River
Municipal Utilities whose job is to provide reliable power at reasonable rates to the consumers of our area. -John Dietz, Elk
River (Editor's note: Dietz is the president of the Elk River Utilities Commission.)
Social Bookmarking ....
Close Window

http://erstarnews.com/index2.php?option=com content&task=view&id=9271&pop=1&pa... 9/15/2009
