MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Ice Arena Commission, Members <br />FROM: Rich Czech, Arena Manager <br />DATE: August 6, 2009 <br />SUBJECT: Agenda Memo -August 11, 2009 <br />5. 2008 Financial update <br />Attached for your review is the budget information for the years 2006 - 2009. Tim <br />Simon, the cities finance director, will be at the meeting to discuss the 2008 final <br />numbers as well as the current budget and any other questions the Commission may have <br />regarding future budgets or Capital improvements. <br />6. Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant <br />As we discussed at the April meeting, the Arena submitted four proposals for the <br />stimulus energy grants that the Federal government allocated 3.2 billion dollars nation <br />wide to cities for energy conservation projects. We have been told by the State <br />Energy Office not to expect any decisions on any of the projects until later on in <br />August or September. If any of the four projects (listed below) are considered we <br />will prepare the necessary paper work to submit to the U.S. Department of Energy on <br />a timely matter. If the paper work is complex we may want to consider hiring a firm <br />that is familiar with the process so that the forms are completed appropriately. <br />The Arena (City) has submitted the following four energy saving projects to the states <br />energy saving program. <br />1) New boilers for hot water for the Zamboni and the in floor heating <br />2) Dehumidifier/ heating system for the Arena <br />3) New Lighting System in Olympic Rink <br />4) Low emissive ceiling (vapor barrier) in Olympic rink <br />7. Renovating the Barn's Roof <br />On July 6th the City Council approved $6,961.00 to Matt Thompson Builders for <br />repairing the Barn's roof. The work will consist of removing old caulk that is failing <br />
