giver <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Economic Development Authority <br />FROM: Annie Deckert, Economic Development Assistant <br />DATE: 13 July 2009 <br />SUBJECT: EDA receives $1,500 grant from Initiative Foundation for <br />Economic Development Certification <br />On June 25`h, 2009 the EDA was awarded $1,500 from the Initiative Foundation to assist in <br />the cost of tuition for the Economic Development Assistant's training to obtain the <br />Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) certification through the National <br />Develompent Council (NDC). The NDC offers a series of four courses; Economic <br />Development Finance, Business Credit Analysis, Real Estate Finance and The Art of Deal <br />Structuring. Total tuition costs are $3,510.00. <br />The EDA was also awarded $500 from the Economic Development Authority of MN for <br />tuition assistance for the first course. The Assistant completed and passed this course in <br />January of 2009 and completed the 2"d course in June of 2009. She has two courses to <br />complete before becoming certified. <br />The Initiative Foundation awards about $1 million annually in grants to 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br />organizations, governments and schools that serve residents within our central Minnesota <br />service area to improve the quality of life in Central MN by investing in communities to <br />strengthen leadership and build and sustain healthy communities. <br />
